Google just took a quantum leap in computer science. Using the company's state-of-the-art quantum computer, called Sycamore, Google has claimed "quantum supremacy" over the most powerful supercomputers in the world by solving a problem considered virtually impossible for normal machines.

The quantum computer completed the complex computation in 200 seconds. That same calculation would take even the most powerful supercomputers approximately 10,000 years to finish, the team of researchers, led by John Martinis, an experimental physicist at the University of California, Santa Barbara, wrote in their study published Wednesday (Oct. 23) in the journal Nature.

"It is likely that the classical simulation time, currently estimated at 10,000 years, will be reduced by improved classical hardware and algorithms," Brooks Foxen, a graduate student researcher in Martinis' lab, said in a statement. "But since we are currently 1.5 trillion times faster, we feel comfortable laying claim to this achievement," he added, referring to the supremacy of quantum computers.

But IBM disagrees.

Yet in an eleventh-hour objection, Google’s chief quantum-computing rival asserted that the quantum supremacy threshold has not yet been crossed. In a paper posted online on Monday October 21st 2019, IBM provided evidence that the world’s most powerful supercomputer can nearly keep pace with Google’s new quantum machine. As a result, IBM argued that Google’s claim should be received “with a large dose of skepticism.”

Eco-friendly Packagings

In the world we live in today, we are facing very critical environmental issues. Even if we don’t fully realise it yet, but, the time to act is now. As human beings, we always need to buy things, whether its food or clothes. Food is presented to us as consumers with packagings. These packaging enables us to know what is inside the product, its ingredients, how its fabricated etc…

With the environmental issues that we are facing today, it’s important to know where all of the things we buy end up later on as soon as we’re done with it. Packagings are probably one of the most significant element that builds up trash and therefore pollutes our nature.

Here are some facts for your to visualise the situation here. According the to EPA, the average American person will produce about 5.91 pounds of trash, with 1.51 pounds being recycled and the rest being 4.40 pounds is the amount of waste that accounts for one person, on average, in a year.  Billions of tons of plastic have been produced over the last decade and a lot of it end up being trash. Studies have shown that there are about 8 million metric tons of plastic that end up in the ocean every year. This is due to the fact that plastic takes more than 400 years to degrade, so most of it end up in the ocean or in landfills.

Whose fault is it?

In reality, when we are told that we’ve messed up, we always try to point the finger at someone to blame. However, when it comes to plastic waste killing the sea life and potentially poisoning the whole food chain, it’s hard to say whose the one to actually blame for all this.

I could say that we have ourselves to blame for all of this. We have all contributed to this in some way. Have you ever bought a bottle of water (made of plastic)? Have you ever bought an object that you’ve just thrown away later on in life when you found no use to it anymore? Then you have definitely contributed to this. Everyone has. Our way of consuming is one of the main factors to our current situation.

However, when we think about it another way, we (consumers) are not the ones who have produced these things that we consume. It’s because they are accessible to us, so is it maybe all of the companies and brands that are most responsible ?

This is why I think having eco-friendly packaging is necessary today. Some companies have already started this initiative by offering new packagings that are less harmful to the environment. Maybe by focusing more on alternative fibres, recycled materials, solvent-free adhesives, natural ink (etc...). Even in the actions led by the companies such as export or import, that pollutes our world too, so perhaps developing products as well as services that are designed to help brands/companies compensate their environmental impact.

Christmas: 3 things for what we should be grateful for.

I can’t believe it’s already December. This month is one of my absolute favorites because it has always been full of love and happiness for me. With Christmas being my favorite holiday, I believe that we should take 5 minutes to reflect about everything it represents and to value all that life gives us.

#1 Our family and friends:

Our family and friends are going to be the ones that are going to be there for us at all times. There is nothing more important than the people who love us unconditionally and with whom we can count unconditionally. We get to spend a lot of time with them and create beautiful memories.

#2 We can start being better people:

During this month full of love, we have the opportunity to work on ourselves to be our better version. It is the month of a new start.
#3 We should be grateful for Christmas presents:
Presents are not the most important part of Christmas but they still play a huge role during this holiday. It is everything about materialism which is alright but we should also know the limit of it. We should be grateful for what we get and not demand more because we are already lucky enough.
That is is for today's blog, I hope you enjoyed it and have a wonderful Christmas with the people you love.

During a trip, two main questions arise: What will we visit? and, Where will we eat?

As a result, when you travel to the USA you will certainly wonder where you can find something to eat. Here are 5 chains not to be missed!

Dunkin' Donuts:

Whether it's for a coffee or a doughnut (a popular American doughnut with a hole in the center), this address is one of the most popular among Americans all day long. It is a place not to be missed for the simple reason that you will not find any once you return to France. Indeed, even if the franchise has been developed in Europe, the market has still not been opened in France.

Breakfast renowned chain, you must taste the American breakfast! Plates as wide as a MacBook are available with eggs, bacon, sausages, patty, pancakes, waffles and more. You can choose how to cook your eggs, add the desired supplements, have a coffee, juice or milkshake in addition...

The prices are a little high for a meal (about $15 per person) but you won't regret it!

A kind of McDonald's in a more qualitative way, you will find everything from breakfast to dinner. From pancakes, to salads, burgers, meat pieces and desserts, there is something for everyone and prices remain reasonable.

The Cheesecake Factory:

The place where cheesecake fans must go, but not only. While it is certain that you will find dozens of different cheesecakes and for all tastes, the dishes offered are also delicious.

Whether it's salads, burgers or pasta, it's a chain that will leave you with the impression of a luxury restaurant with its decoration and the kindness of its waiters.

The plates are well stocked and it is likely that you will need to ask for a doggy bag.

Even if the prices of some dishes may seem slightly high to you, remember that it is unlikely that you will finish your plate. I therefore advise you to share and/or choose the medium or even small size of the dish when it is offered.

BJ's :

Present in 27 states, this chain is full of food, from soups to meat dishes. But the best is the nachos (order them under the name chips and queso) as well as the pizookies (soft minute cookies with ice cream on top) a real treat!!!

Go ahead and come back only when you have gained a few kilos, because at more than 1000 kcal the dessert at BJ's for example, the USA will amaze you, and your stomach.

And here are some other bonus addresses:
